A Few Helpful Fenway Park Facts
Fenway Park is both famous and infamous. It has served as the home stadium to some of the most notable players in baseball. It's also the birthplace of seething rivalries and passionate fans. Below, you'll discover a few Fenway Park Facts that will add flavor to your image of this stadium.
It's In The Numbers - Seating and Ticket Info
While the Park currently has an official capacity of 36,984 (during the day), it has occasionally drawn far greater numbers. For example, a doubleheader against New York in 1935 attracted 47,627 fans. There have also been several noteworthy records set at Fenway including Kevin Millar's 10,000th home run in 2003 and John Valentin's triple play in 1994. Over the years, several of the team's numbers have been retired including #1 (Bobby Doerr), #4 (Joe Cronin), #8 (Carl Yastrzemski), #9 (Ted Williams), #27 (Carlton Fisk) and #42 (Jackie Robinson).
Working The Seats - Some Tickets Left Unsold
If you have ever attended games at Fenway Park, you may already know that they take fan loyalty seriously. They don't actually sell every seat because they want to accommodate everyone. If you find someone has spilled their drink on your seat, they'll try to find another seat for you. If your leg is injured and you can't sit comfortably in your seat, the Park will do their best to find another seat that's available and better-suited for you. The key is to know how to work the system.
There are lots of fun Fenway Park facts that we haven't covered. We'll revisit this topic soon but the best way to experience Fenway park is by buying Boston Red Sox Tickets and experiencing it yourself.
