Getting To Know The Toronto Blue Jays
From 1977 through today, the Blue Jays have had their share of inspiring victories and depressing defeats. They won their first (and to this date, only) World Series in 1992, becoming the quickest team to win the World Series from their inception. However, after letting Dave Winfield go, their performance suffered dramatically during the 1994 season. 1995 marked another dismal year as the Blue Jays turned in a 56–88 record, posting last place in their division.
The next several years were volatile for the Jays. Though they added promising pitchers to their lineup in an attempt to curb poor pitching performance, their record continued to slump. After a series of personnel changes in management and on the team, the Blue Jays initially seemed poised for a promising season in 2007. Unfortunately, the team suffered several injuries. Though they managed to deliver a respectable record, it was far from stellar.
The Toronto Blue Jays are still coping with personnel changes in an attempt to boost their competitiveness for 2008. With the right players, they may yet regain the glory they once enjoyed. Due to the Montreal Expos migrating from Canada to Washington a few years ago, the Blue Jays MLB League is currently the only MLB team that is not located in the United States.
